ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Swim practice will be over today, Tuesday, March 3, at 4:30 at the high school. Please have your parents pick you up in front of the school.

The 7th grade "A" girls basketball team beat South Dearborn tonight 42-17. Every Lady Pirate scored in the game. Micha Morrison lead all scorers will 11 points. Rose Morrison and Kelsey Scott both contributed 6 points, whereas Sierra Lang and Olivia Lawrence scored 4 points a piece. Bailey Springmeyer and Ellie Jackson scored 3 points each and Carlee Phillips and Sierra Huffman scored 2 points each. Grace Crist scored 1 point. The 7th grade Lady Pirates are back in action Saturday at Greensburg Junior High School at 1:00 p.m.

The 8th grade "A" girls basketball team lost to South Dearborn tonight, 24-32. The Lady Pirates had a rough time getting started, down to the Squires 7-30 going into the 4th quarter. The Pirates fought hard in the 4th quarter, outscoring South Dearborn 17-2, but falling short in the victory. Megan Kaiser led the team with 10 points. Maddy Wickens and Kirsten Adams both had 2 points. Anika Scripture contributed 2 points. The Lady Pirates will play Saturday at Greensburg Junior High School, following the 7th grade game.

Mandatory track practices will begin on Monday, March 9 after school until 5:00. Please dress for practice. Physicals will be needed by March 9 unless you already have been in a school sport for 2014-15. Athletes in swimming and wrestling are excused until their season is over. There will be optional practices over spring break and those will be announced later.
Archer entry fees for State are due today. Permission slips are due Wednesday.
Reminder to 8th graders going to Washington DC, your final payment is due this week. You may pay in the auxiliary gym before school. It is not too late to go on the trip. Please check with Mr. Tucker or Mrs. Burkhart if you may want to attend the DC trip but have not signed up yet.

Brochures for the candy sale have been were passed out. Extra forms are available in the office. The price for the chocolate bunnies are not on the order form but the price is $8.00 each. The company wanted to raise the prices but we decided to pass on the savings to the customer and only ask $8.00. Candy bars are $1.00 each and all other Kathryn Beich candy is $6.00. No taxes are collected. Please collect the money with each order. Checks should be made payable to GJHS.

Yearbook order forms are due MARCH 6 not Feb. 6. The company supplied the incorrect information earlier. You will have plenty of time to place your order. Cost is $17.00. Cost is $17.00 and extra order forms are available in the black tower outside the office. Extra yearbooks will not be ordered, please be sure to reserve your copy. You may also order online at Lifetouch.com

This year the Bowl for Kid’s Sake event will be held on Sunday, March 8. Any student may start a team of 5 players and they can be friends or relatives. Each player must raise $50.00 or more to be on the team and receive a free t-shirt. The top junior high team that has the most pledges will receive a free pizza/pop party. You could also win money and other prizes at the bowling alley. Please see Mrs. Burkhart for more information. This is a terrific way to help raise money for the BB/BS organization in Decatur County.

Greensburg Public Library will host a Battle of the Books on Saturday, April 18th. Teams from GJHS will compete against teams from St. Mary’s, North Decatur, and South Decatur. If enough readers participate, we may even compete amongst ourselves. This would be the year for GJHS boys to avenge last year’s embarrassing defeat to GJHS girls! If you love to read and like to hang out with other students who love to read, this is THE event for you. Stop by the GJHS library for more information.
