Course Description
The High School Physical Education curriculum will concentrate on all areas of physical development. Classes will stress the importance of student participation and sportsmanship while learning and performing various skills - along with encouraging students about nutritional needs.
Materials
T-shirt, gym shorts, white socks, change of clothes, tennis shoes.
Clothing worn to school cannot be worn in PE class. Absolutely, no jewelry can be worn in PE class.
Classroom Management Plan
Take good care of equipment and locker room facilities. Be respectful to the instructor, substitute teacher, and other students in the class. Have a positive attitude, exemplify sportsmanship, be on time, and do not use inappropriate language. Any Student who disobeys rules established in the Student Handbook throughout the semester will be subjected to disciplinary action. Flipping towels is dangerous and will also result in disciplinary action.
Grading
Grades will be determined in a point system. Total points earned divided by total possible points.
A 100 -93 C+ 79.9-77.0 D- 62.9-60.0
A- 92.9-90.0 C 76.9-73.0 F 59.9-Below
B+ 89.9-87.0 C- 72.9-70.0
B 86.9-83.0 D+ 69.9-67.0
B- 82.9-80.0 D 66.9-63.0
Points are earned for class participation, skills tests, Strength Training - Cardio Vascular Fitness, attitude, sportsmanship, and work ethic are all incorporated in the students final grade. Students will receive 20pts. per day for participation. If you are absent or not dressed with a written excuse you can make up those 20pts by doing a sports report. If you choose not to do a report you will lose 20pts.
Participation - If student does not dress (unexcused) they will lose 10% from their PE grade and will be required to WALK the entire period. The student will walk solitarily; this will not be a social activity. After the 2nd unexcused no dress a disciplinary referral will be written. Also, those students who dress and are antagonistic toward classroom routines (poor work ethic) will be docked 2% from their PE grade.
Excused - No-dress must be accompanied by a written, dated, and signed note from either a parent (2 per nine weeks), or a signed doctors note.
(Medical problems, asthma, etc. inhaler, or any medical condition must be reported!)
- Students are responsible for make-up work. School Corporation Make-up Work Policy. (Student Handbook)
- Mid-terms will be sent out at the middle of each 9 weeks grading period.
- Due to weather rain, storms, snow, etc. some modification may have to be done to accommodate both boys, girls, and advanced P.E. classes.
