Meet Mrs. Parker
I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts Degree with Honors and an Education endorsement for K-12 from Denison University; and I earned a Masters Degree in Art Education with a g/t endorsement from Indiana University. I have attended many art workshops, state and national art conferences, and painting workshops.
In Greensburg, I work with the Gallery on the Square, the Board of the Arts & Cultural Council of Dec.Co., the YMCA, Friends of the Greensburg Public Library, and Kingston Presbyterian Church. During the past summer I took a two week class in mosaics at IUPUI, John Herron School, taught a week long children's art camp with Mrs. Stiers at the Gallery on the Square, and lead the Kingston VBS crafts.
This school year I am teaching visual arts at the Elementary School for 4th grades, and 5th grades; and 6th grade art at the Jr. High. I share an art room at the Junior High School with Ms. Wilson. The art room at the Jr. High has been completely renovated with new sinks, cabinets, floor, and kiln room next door. At the elementary building I enjoy one of the two lovely art rooms.
I expect all my students to show growth in art production skills, problem solving, knowledge about art history, and criticism. I expect them to create original art work that is successful for their experience level. The lessons that I create are based on Indiana's Visual Arts Standards.
My strengths as a teacher are planning and organization, flexibility, research, patience, tolerance, love of children, creativity, curiosity, trying new ideas, and developing projects/activities that will engage my students.
