ASSIGNMENTS AND HOMEWORK

There will be very little homework given in DRC. Currently, I am planning to have some students practice reading and math flashcards at home. These will be commonly used words, and basic math facts, or numbers. Some students will be taking a reading book home to practice reading at home.

The below are simply a discription of what we will plan to do in our classroom.

Some students will be going out to other classrooms for some periods. Any classroom or homework assignments will be modified to the students abilities.

SPELLING

Some students will have a spelling test each week. Some students have 5 and some have 10 words to spell.

Spelling lists will be sent home each week. Please help your child practice these words a few minutes every day.

READING

Some students will be bringing home their readers each evening. It is very important to their success that you listen to them read each evening.

Students will be doing their writing assignments with the classroom teacher. All written assignments will be practical in nature. Some students will also be writing in a journal at school.

Students will be working towards their IEP goals and objectives for math. These will focus on the practical math skills of: counting, skip counting, numbering, counting money, telling time, calendar skills, basic adding, subtracting, and multiplication. Flash cards will be used also.
