Curriculum

Greensburg Junior High School serves students in grades 6-8 from the Greensburg community in southeast Indiana. As a part of Greensburg Community Schools, we offer a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum that extends beyond traditional subjects to include Art, Music (with both band and choir options), Engineering and Technology, Health and Physical Education, and College and Career Exploration. These programs are designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, while also preparing students for future academic and career success.
As a 1-to-1 technology school, every student is provided with a personal laptop computer, ensuring equitable access to the tools necessary for developing essential 21st-century skills. Our curriculum is enhanced through the use of these devices, helping students to seamlessly integrate technology into their learning experience.

Greensburg Junior High School is proud to offer a range of extracurricular activities that enrich our students' experiences beyond the classroom. Our award-winning programs include: Academic Team, Archery, Band & Jazz Band, Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Choir, Cross Country, Drama Club, Esports, FCA, Football, Girls Who Code, Golf, SADD Club, Soccer, Softball, Student Ambassadors (STARS), Student Council, Speech Team, Swimming, Track, Volleyball, and Wrestling.

Our commitment to holistic student development is also reflected in our STEMConnects lab, where students have the unique opportunity to experiment, explore, and create in an environment that promotes innovation. Through our STEM program, students can earn micro-credentials in various areas, showcasing their mastery of key STEM concepts.

Our efforts have not gone unnoticed. Greensburg Junior High School has been nationally recognized as a "Project Lead The Way Distinguished Gateway School," a prestigious honor awarded for our commitment to empowering students through hands-on, project-based learning in STEM disciplines. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report named Greensburg Junior High School one of the "Best Middle Schools," further affirming the quality of our academic programs and the dedication of our staff.
 

Student opportunity is at the forefront of our curricular offerings at Greensburg Community High School. With 17 unique pathways for students to choose from, students can begin engaging in their potential future career while still in school. We are proud to offer 145 unique curricular opportunities, including 43 Dual Credit opportunities, 17 Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and over 124 local community partners comprising our community learning environment. We are proud to be a fully endorsed Early College High School. We strive daily to provide unique opportunities and curriculum offerings that will assist our students in being college and career-ready when they graduate from GCHS.

We are proud of our robust Work-Based Learning program, which allows students to pursue real-world, on-the-job training while still in school. Our community partners provide the opportunity for students to develop specific career-related skills, employability skills, and the potential to receive certifications while still in school, which allows students to earn more money sooner as they enter the workforce once their education is complete.

At GCHS, we strive daily to ensure the academic, emotional, social, and psychological needs of every student are met to help them achieve their personal best. With over 40 extracurricular activities and 18 varsity sports offered, we believe there's an opportunity for every student to succeed. As a GCHS student, it is our goal for you to challenge yourself daily.
