Greensburg Community Schools Receives National Recognition from Project Lead The Way for Excellence in Career- Connected Learning

Named a distinguished district for transforming the student experience

through real-world connection and workforce-aligned pathways

[Greensburg, IN] – Greensburg Community Schools announced today that it has been recognized as a 2025-26 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished District. This honor celebrates school districts across the U.S. that are committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in career-connected learning through its PLTW programs. GCS is helping students develop transferable skills needed to succeed in an evolving future.

“This recognition celebrates the overall emphasis placed on STEM education at GCS spanning all grade levels, K-12. I am proud of the commitment from our teachers and the accomplishments of our students are being recognized at a national level,” Tom Hunter, Superintendent.

PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that creates transformative learning experiences and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills for future careers. To qualify for this honor, Greensburg Community Schools  must have had at least 20% of students in each grade, K-12, participate in a PLTW program during the 2024-25 school year, or have had every school in the district earn the PLTW Distinguished School award. Greensburg Community Schools offers PLTW Launch (PreK-5), PLTW Gateway (6-8), and PLTW [Computer Science, Engineering, and Biomedical Science] at Greensburg Community High School.

"We are proud to honor Greensburg Community Schools for giving students hands-on, career-connected learning that builds the confidence, knowledge, and skills to navigate their futures," said Dr. David Dimmett, PLTW President and CEO. "Their commitment to real-world, project-based learning ensures students experience education that is meaningful and directly connected to what comes next."

Greensburg Community Schools is part of a national community of PreK-12 schools, higher education institutions, and more than 100 industry partners united in the mission to prepare students for school, work, and life.
